i rescinded my book list on the blog for 2009. several reasons. i found that when i fell into a slump of little reading, the stagnant book list only stared guilt at me and did not actually motivate me to read. also, with the many changes happening this year, i anticipate reading more magazine articles (homeschooling, gardening, farming, mothering) and children's books, and less "normal" books. instead, i thought when i'm into reading something good, i'll just post. so here ya go. three books have been traveling with me lately.
i'm L-O-V-I-N-G
Honey For a Child's Heart. it is inspiring me to have and read great books to my children. it is explaining to me what makes a great book and how they breed creativity and imagination. i love that the first half of the books is spent explaining the value of great books and the second half is the author's hand-picked recommendations for various age groups.
i've been looking at
Beyond Survival for a couple years and finally ordered it. i've barely opened it yet because i've been engrossed in the previous one, but it promises to be an encouragement in the homeschooling realm.

and just for fun, i picked up
this puzzle book (except mine is volume 1, i couldn't find it online). it's a hoard of word type puzzles, but no crossword or word search. a little hard to explain, but i highly recommend it if you've ever enjoyed yourself by browsing through the dictionary.
