Not On My Diabetic Diet

Last night Elle Mae helped Daddy turn some of those luscious black raspberries into luscious raspberry cobbler. She just loves helping in the kitchen. MMMmmmm!!! Delicious. I did have a tiny bit. Can't wait to be off this diabetic diet. I NEVER used to consume diet Turkey Hill tea, Coke Zero, and Diet root beer, but I have to admit, I am thankful to the diet-crazed folks who feed that industry. Those artificial flavors are not for me, but solely water to drink for 5+ months is not quite up my alley either. My ticker says 17 days to go!!! Yea, Baby.

Black Raspberries

Crazy amounts of black raspberries are proliferating from our garden! This is all thanks to the previous owners. Thus far, all we've done is pick them and eat them (and freeze them). They're so scrumptious, both to the eyes and in the mouth.

I just keep taking my camera out in the yard. About every other day something new has bloomed! I'm trying to learn more names of all these amazing plants every time someone knowledgeable visits.

Face Pumpkins. Check.

I'm quite proud of myself. I have a tendency to take on a project, look at how big the whole thing is, and procrastinate until it is too late to do a good job. Yesterday we bought seeds (deep discount since we're so late getting started). Today I decided to plant. I felt the usual overwhelming feelings creeping in. But instead of putting it off, I picked just one crop - face pumpkins - to get started with. The children helped. We weeded, made five hills of dirt, and planted our pumpkins seeds. Turns out the children's endurance and patience level of such a task as gardening is just about equal to 7-month pregnant mama's endurance and patience as well. So, in about a week we should see little sprouts. And if turns out too late to be planting pumpkins, oh well. This year's garden is definitely the no-stress variety, mainly for learning and enjoying.

P.S./Earlier in the week I put in three tomato plants and two little sweet pepper plants.

Harvest

our garden on the deck yielded one teeny gourd and several small watermelons. it'll soon be frosting around here, so we brought them in to explore. ~bec.
